YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

David Cook Wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David Vs. David

Okay so we all know that I want David Cook to win and I just can't stand David A. Unfortunately, I think that David A had the better night last night and David Cook just had a good night. I LOVED David Cook's first song and I have a lot of respect for him choosing a new song for his last song...I feel like he's treating himself more like an artist at this point and not so much about the competition. I have to give him credit for that.

So I voted last night for David Cook and it didn't take me very long to get through 3-4 times to vote for him so.....although I REALLY want him to win and think he deserves to win I have a feeling that David A won....whatever...I'll still be buying David C's album as soon as it comes out.

Top 3

Little late with my post but here it goes:

Syesha-you are so cute and fun to watch but I don't think you're Semi-final material

David A- I don't like you but you will probably win with your young female fan base

David Cook- No one comes close....it reminds me of season 1 when there was just kelly clarkson and no one else could hold a candle to her....if you don't win you'll still be fine....sometimes that's the better thing to happen.

I do love the night when the judges choose the songs though...I always find it so interesting.

HAHAHAHAHA David A's Dad is banned

Apparently David A's dad is a super wacko stage dad and he's been banned from rehearsals and backstage.  I hope my link works below.  He was banned from backstage at Star Search too when David was on it.

Rock Night

Short and sweet:

Jason C you need to go home.  Does he participate in extra curricular activities before he goes on stage man or what?

David Cook is still my man.

Syesha- you made me tear up a tad-she's so proud of herself and has every right to be.

David A- you just don't make me change my mind.  Anyone answer this one for me-how come Melinda was told to stop acting like she was all shocked that she was 'so good' but no one says that to DAvid....it's annoying!  Damn double standard!

I'm going to bed!
:)
Grumpy....OUT!

I can't believe I am defending Paula

Okay- so I slacked off again and didn't watch this past week.  Well, I watched a little bit and then got distracted.  I watched a few of the beginning singers and heard Ryan repeat, a zillion times, that we wouldn't be hearing from the judges until after the second song.  Then I turned it off so I missed the live action of Paula commenting on Jason C on both of his songs and making a fool of herself.  Then I heard it being repeated again, and again, and again.   Even someone at lunch kept saying, "Did you hear about crazy Paula again?" and when I said that I could see where it got confusing I was hushed with a, "No, come on- she is just plain crazy."

My take on things- we have all had crazy periods of time in our life when you don't even know what day of the week it is right?  I'm sure once AI starts up that things just blur for those involved.  On top of that, a lot of times the judges have caught a sneak peek at the contestants during rehearsal at some point in time.  Add to that the fact that Ryan said we wouldn't hear from the judges until after the second song and then he talks to them in between songs-I'm sure they were confused because I would be.  And then add to that the Paula factor.  She is not the most stable person in the world but I honestly think people are being too hard/critical/mean this time around.

Now, mind you, she shouldn't have been given the mic to clear things up either because that is just asking for trouble.

So- just wanted to get that off my chest.  Let Paula go on this one please.  I wonder what the theme is this week?

Andrew Llyod Weber is AMAZING!

First of all-I got a kick out of watching him on the show with his quirkiness.  You can always tell a true genius by his/her quirkiness.

Second of all- I LOVE musicals!

Third of all- I LOVE LOVE musicals!

Okay...onto the reviews:

1. Syesha- where have you been girl?  Talk about personality, and WOW!  I would SO see her in a Broadway show...and can I borrow her body and that dress for one day....PLEASE!!!!  As my husband said, "Well, she's certainly not ugly." :)

2.  Jason C- After they announced that he was going to sing "Memory" and went to commercial I said to Bill, "Oh no!  This kid knows NOTHING about musicals and he picked Memory because it's so famous and of course it's like the only song he'll know and it's just going to stink."  Ugh!  Simon got it right- the longest 2 minutes!

3.  Brooke- you're sweet but you need to go home.  Your run is over.  And I agree with Paula- you don't start and stop...not twice in one season and try to get away with it.  I know she truly is a genuine person and I feel mean for saying this, but I'm done with the syrupy sweetness where everything is moving and touching and meaningful.  I don't doubt she truly feels that way- I'm just over it.  Am I mean for saying that?

4. David A- I guess I am eating my words from last week- that was truly amazing.  Loved the version, loved the voice and the singing, still don't want you to win but-well done.

5.  Carly- Thank you Sir Weber for making her change her song.  What was with all the ballads huh?  I LOVED Carly tonight- she was great, she was happy, she was smiling...and she cracked me up with that darn t-shirt!  Can I buy that?  You know it's going to be made into a real one within a week.

6.  David Cook- I LOVED how he didn't try to change it and just showed another side to him.  When he spoke in the beginning about how he grew up doing musical theater I was like, "Oh my goodness, just when I thought I couldn't like you and appreciate you more you say something like that!"  He is so talented to do what he normally does week after week and then to stick to the original and just show off his vocals.....WOW.  Can I preorder his album now?

So...David Cook "will always be my baby"...but nice job Carly, DAvid A and Syesha!  Can every week be Andrew Llyod Weber week?

April 15th-Mariah Carey night-

I've been a slacker lately so I'll try to make up for it tonight.

1- David A- I don't care what you sing and how you sing it-I will never like you.

2-Carly- I liked her version of it and felt like she didn't over sing it for once but I agree with the judges.  She's holding back somehow.

3- Syesha-I thought it was her best.  First time I didn't compare her to anyone (good song choice) but still she just doesn't do it for me.

4- Brooke-I think she needs to go home.  She's cute and charming but it's the same old each time.

5- Kristy Lee-I'd like her to go home too but she wasn't that bad.

6-David Cook- my man.....WOW WOW WOW!  I completely agree with Paula-that could SO be a movie soundtrack.  Looks like I'm buying another one from itunes from him!  Truly a talented person with such an ear for music.

7 Jason C- I like his vibe.  should he win.  nah.  Is he good-yeah.  Is he sounding more confident-yes and it shows!

David Cook ROCKS!!!! :)

Inspiration Night

Here's my rundown:

1. Michael Johns: I thought he was better than the judges said he was. Man, was Randy cranky.
2. Syesha: She can sing, but honestly, what does she bring that is unique or even interesting??? If she can't make anything sound different, she'll always be compared to the original artist. Heard she had a major attitude to the staff at the hotel they are staying at too.
3. Jason Castro: I liked this a lot. He sounded good, but he's got to stop making those weird faces when he sings!
4. Carly: I agreed with the judges, she made the song sound angry. But she sang it well.
5. David Cook: EEK. What the heck was that? I like him, but that was hard to listen to. And he seemed to know it too.
6. Kristi Lee Cook. Sigh. She sang it ok, but I still want her to go home.
7. David Archuleta: Still sounds lovely and amazing, but not sure I'd buy his album. It would take some really great songwriting, b/c the stuff he's been choosing to sing is just "eh."
8. Brooke: Not sure why she went last, but it was good/ok/nothing new.

Agree with you, Bill, Dolly doesn't have it anymore...and she's kinda scary in HD. Yikes!

Dolly Parton Night

Dolly Parton night...and I liked most of the songs! Who knew?I was impressed with almost all tonight! I thought that overall they all did very well and made for a good Top 9.

Ramiele, Syesha, and Kristi Lee Cook may be in the B3. Why do people continue to do Whitney?? When will they learn??? Syesha wasn't awful at all, but everyone is going to compare that last "money" note to Whitney's. Didn't care for her "Love you Simon" mocking at the end either. Not cool. KLC...was ok. But it was boring. And you can tell the lack of strength in her voice b/c she wasn't so good sitting down at the beginning. Ramiele, I like her personality but she's not bringing it at all. She may have run out of chances.

I enjoyed Brooke's "Jolene"; not a fan of the song David Archuleta sang but it was sung beautifully; Michael Johns was really good; Carly has her straight hair back! Pretty!; Jason Castro got better toward the end and I enjoyed it but I'm partial, too; David Cook was good, too. Didn't know he had that range...it was nice to hear.

Tues-March 25th

Must admit..catching up on sleep after having my whole family over from F-M morning.  I only caught the Aussie before I went to sleep and I was impressed.  Anyone else wish to comment?  I'm needing the update today! :)

Results Show

Ok, I'm trying to post! Hope this works!

I was shocked that Carly was in the B3. Although, I admit, Blackbird is one of my favorite Beatles songs, and her rendition, singing it loudly, kinda mad me mad. But that's only b/c of how I feel about the original. Were people turned off by her defending the song? My sister said that the song was originally a civil rights mantra, so maybe people got mad that she was using it to describe the music industry? (I'm sure Lennon would love to know that's how people are identifying with his work nowadays!)

Kristi Lee will go next week, hopefully. I'm done with her.

Loved Ryan's intro for Kelly Pickler..."She's "grown" since leaving Idol..." HA!

Curios to see how the Andrew Lloyd Webber week will go. I can't wait for them to sing all his songs! But what's Simon going to say? Doesn't he use "sounds like broadway" as a negative comment?

March 18th

BORING!!!  Dancing with the Stars won over Idol for me last night.

Jason Dreadlocks-Simon's right...he's cuteness sells it but other than that...blah
Ayesha-did a great job and Simon hit the nail on the head again-Brooke should have choosen that song.
David Cook- I liked it
David A-Much better
Brooke- it was painful
Kerri Lee-man can she sing but...boring

I can't even remember the rest to comment.  How about they NOT repeat a theme for the rest of the season!

3/11- What a show!

I was pleasantly "Wowed" this evening!  :)  Yeah!  No surprise who amazed me:
Chicheze-how COOL was that arrangement...I didn't know he had it in him!
Carly AKA "Irish Chick"-for the first time she totally impressed me!  Man can that girl sing!
Amanda- Again...how cool can you get?  Not strong enough to win it but I'm always entertained.
David Cook-I think he has SUCH determination.  I really feel strongly about him.  He seems like he is taking it so seriously and is so grounded and level headed he could totally...well...I don't want to jinx anyone.
Brooke- what a classy chick.

Somewhere in between WOW and Eh-
Jason Dreadlocks-I was thinking the same thing as Simon!!  He's sitting in his girlfriend's dorm room, at the foot of her bed, serenading her and she's looking up at him, swooning over her dreamy talented boyfriend.....Lucky Girl! LOL

For the Eh-
as much as I love my Aussie friend- eh...not bad, not great but TOTALLY has potential
Ramiele- as much as I love her voice she really was....boring
AYesha- eh

For the BLEHS-
Kerri Lee Cook---DON'T TAKE MUSIC ARRANGEMENT ADVICE FROM YO MAMA!I was actually covering my face during her performance because I was THAT embarrassed for her.  Even Paula couldn't make a bluff...she didn't even get the standard Paula line of, "First of all, you look GREAT!"
DAvid Hernadez-say CHEESE...with a capital "C"
David Archlette....he does have an Achilles heal after all....Beatles songs.

Na na na na....

I caught bits and pieces of tonight but all I have to say is that when Danny was cut, the way he was twitching with his hands and that look in his eye kinda freaked me out.  He looked like he was about to flip a switch and hurt someone.

But, he'll be fine.  He'll be some co-host on MTV or TMZ or the red carpet preview show.  I can just sense it! :)

All can post!!

I just realized I had a "log in only" setting on my blog. I removed it so anyone who wants to post can without an account. The more the merrier.

;)

The Gals-March 5th

So the girls are just not as good as the guys but I did think they were rather entertaining as a whole. I think Kady needs to go home (although Simon called her s stepford wife I think she's more of a Fembot from Austin Powers), and I think that Kerri Lee Cook was probably forgetable and could possibly go home.

What was up with Paula's rambling comments....it's like listening to a three year old "I like dogs... mutts are nice...oh, a butterfly!" Ahh...good old Paula is back!

My favs-I still love Ramiela (I figured I should learn her name since I like her so much), and Ayesha was great. I liked Amanda's performance but can she really win...I think not. The Irish chick was good too but no one really stands out for me.

The Guys-March 4, 2008

Oh...where to begin???  I'll start with the singing.

I LOVED David Cook's take on "Hello".  As he was playing it I turned to Bill and said, "I am SO going on itunes and buying that one!"  and viola...Randy agreed with me!  (Can I get paid to do this gig?)  Still love my Aussie friend although he didn't WOW me and I love Jason Dreadlocks too but I didn't think it was a good as Simon said.

Onto the REAL fun.  So Chez sent me a link earlier in the day about David Hernadez and his 'prior job experience' as a stripper and then Simon made a comment too close to the microphone as the song was ending and I thought it was something like, "Can you imagine him stripping to that" or something to the effect with the words "Stripper/Stripping" in the comment.  SO Bill and I are bantering back and forth and the phone rings about 2 minutes later and Chez informs me that her hubby and her were watching it over and over again with the wonderful invention called  Tivo and they heard something like that too!  I'm curious to hear if anyone else heard that?  Simon has to watch those comments!!!

oh...and one more thing...would you go on national tv and admit that you had a booger hanging out of your nose during a photo shoot...I mean you're merely a D/C list celebrity at this point....a booger story like that isn't the way to skyrocket you to the top there wierdo!

Seacrest....OUT!  (I do miss that annoying catch phrase)

The Girls-Feb 27, 2008

Can we say it together now.....Song Choice.  What was up with those choices tonight....bleh.

I still love Ramanlangadingdong even though her song was weak and I really like Ayesha.  I liked her song even though nobody else did.  And even though the one chick stank with the song I was belting away to Grease's "Hopelessly Devoted to You".  I forgot how much I love that song!

I really have nothing more to say about the girls because they just weren't as good as the boys...and I didn't think the boys were that great either....let's see what happens tomorrow!

;)

The Guys-February 26th

Okay...so the night started off and I was thinking "Lame" but then it kinda was okay for me at the end...all I need is a "Dawg you worked it out at the end"and  I'd be Randy's clone! :)

I still like the Aussie and the Dreadlocks boy...he has such a 'pinchable' face!  (Am I THAT much older then these guys already?)  I thought David Hernandez did a great job, and I LOVE Danny Noreiga...that boy just cracks me up to no end...what a HUGE and fabulous personality.  I totally got what Paula was saying because you hear his voice and you just know he has the potential to really be great.  Chicheeze(sp) was fun too but there is no question that the 17 year old was the "WOW" of the night.  He does annoy me, he plays the Melinda Doolittle card of "Who me?  Really?" But even more so annoying in my opinion.  But I can admit when someone blows everyone else away and he totally did tonight.  Although, I do remember last season Simon saying that to Lakisha on round 1 last year and then she ended up going downhill from there so you never do know.

By the way...I did not like Simon's shirt tonight...a little too shiny or something....he should just stick to the t-shirts. :)

Week 1 Wrap Up and Eliminations

So I've been slacking on the mass emails and thought this may be a better way to share our banter that I so look forward to each week. :)

Week 1-The Boys-
Of course I'm doing this from memory so here we go.  My favs were the dreadlocks kid and the Aussie singer at the end.  The rest just didn't stand out for me.  I know that 17 year old kid was great but I saw on TMZ (yes I was watching that one day last week) that he actually won Star Search when he was 12 and he's got this whole coy "Who?  Me?  A Singer?" act that kinda irks me if you WON Star Search already....HELLO??

The Boys-Elimination
I know Colton left which is fine with me and I have no clue who else left..guess that's Simon's point huh....forgettable?

Week 1-The Girls
I REALLY like that tiny little girl...Ramalanadingdong....or whatever her name is. :)  She's so cute and man can she sing.  I also liked the one who wore the really goofy outfit that Simon made fun of.  The last singer was good too but I have a problem when I don't know the song...guess that's why it's called "song choice" huh?

Girls-Elimination
I was SO upset with Joanna leaving...I REALLY REALLY liked her and didn't think she should have gone already.  There were a number of other girls who could've left and I'd be fine with it...not Joanna...what a personality!

And a funny note:  Love how Ryan just keep leaving out Simon's name like he wasn't there...I found it rather amusing but then again...I'm obsessed! :)

Let's Try Blogging!

In an attempt to de-clutter your inboxes with my ramblings I thought I'd give the blog a whirl.  Let's see how it goes shall we?
